Faunin iltapäivä - Sibelius-Akatemian sinfoniaorkesteri

Afternoon of a Faun – Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra, cond. Kornilios Michailidis

Conductor Kornilios Michailidis brings a magnificent French programme to the autumn’s opening concert of the Sibelius Academy Symphony Orchestra.

The concert opens with Claude Debussy’s sensual Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, followed by the airy and elegant Sinfonietta by Francis Poulenc.

After the interval, Maurice Ravel’s jazz-influenced Piano Concerto in G will be performed by pianist Gustav Schantz, who was selected by audition from amongst Sibelius Academy’s top students. The journey culminates with Ravel’s luxuriously Impressionist Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2, an orchestral suite in its version with choir.
